Devin has been a professional musician and singer for over 25 years, most notably appearing in such bands as Fever Dog, Rango Tango, Everything Is Eventual among many, many others.

He’s worked with many of Trinidad and Tobago’s top performing artists including Nigel Rojas of Orange Sky, Members of Kes the Band, Joey Ng Wai, and Michelle Xavier to name a few. He even had a stint in the national theatre scene in several productions, most significantly as ‘Jesus’ in Jesus Christ Superstar.

He was not only the bassist and backing vocalist of PATSF but also served as musical arranger, co-producer and, for a short period in it’s early days, as band manager.

Before there was Pootie and the Saltfish, there was piano class. It lasted exactly one year because Common Entrance was serious business and smashing up music class wasn’t a career move yet. Fast forward through a musical blackout and suddenly our future Saltfish bassist resurfaces in Gregory’s Dream, somewhere between 1995 and 2001, making noise (good noise) at World Beat Festival in Jenny’s car park alongside legends like Orange Sky, Jointpop and 3 Canal.

Enter Isolate via a fateful call from Riad Boochoon (Kes the band) and boom, Anchorage Pop Music Awards champions, walking off with the fattest cash prize ever. No biggie. Until 2004 that is, when Fever Dog barked into being featuring Kiwan, Devin Harrypaul and a slew of gigs so intense the names of the bands they opened for evaporated from memory. Still, they nabbed second place at Anchorage like champs.

Then came The Sky is Falling, an appropriately chaotic name for a band so mysterious the bassist can’t even recall what the other guys’ original band was called. That lineup included brothers James and Jameon Thomas, now known for playing with Checklist. The Sky might’ve fallen around 2010 but our Saltfish soldier floated on to Jointpop. Though technically he was never officially in the band. He just showed up every Tuesday for 12 years and nobody told him to leave, adding even more depth to the rotating cast of talent. In that time he shared stages with Dolores from The Cranberries, Collective Soul, Kansas and yes, Blue Oyster Cult (whoever they are). Plus four UK tours, Caribbean shows and five albums. No paperwork necessary.

From there? Fuego Caribbean, a parang-powered party train from 2018 to 2023. Christmas in Silver Stars Panyard, gigs at the British High Commissioner’s residence and enough Latin spice to make a steelpan sweat.

And scattered between all that? More bands, forgotten timelines and even a stint in Trans Zen, sending demos to Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. Why? Because Nigel Thomas felt like it.

Which brought him to Pootie and the Saltfish. In 2024 he officially joined the madness, replacing his old Fever Dog bandmate Devin Harrypaul on bass. Full circle. However, the rhythm didn’t stop there; Jerome has since departed Pootie and the Saltfish and currently brings his basslines to his newest band, Beazer.
